Hi Lynn:
I loved the “picking up the phone” analogy that you used to describe what happens when God is getting your attention and you’re not sure what to do. If synchronistic experiences are God’s way of communicating with you, (and when I say you I mean all of us) then you are challenged to discover the most appropriate response to it to reciprocate. You need to be able to say, “I’m here and I see you, Lord”. And from there, figure out what is being asked.
Knowing and understanding what the divine is asking from you is not easy. In fact I think it can be the most challenging of all undertakings because for the most part, you are always searching. I’m not a bible thumper as I hope you know but the truth is that even Jesus didn’t know what he knew until God decided that it was time to tell him. His challenge was that (and it’s interesting that I am answering your question tonight not long after The Passion came out on screen) no matter what God told him, he had to wait to see how God’s word would manifest in the physical first before he could act. Once it manifested, he also knew that he had to bring love to it because regardless of what happened to him or to others, he knew that whatever occured was God’s will.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that the challenge here may not be to find your way through the impasse but to embrace it and allow what ever is happening in it to reveal itself to you. And you know that you need to do this because no matter what’s coming, it’s an expression of divinity!
Truth of the matter is, we may never know why certain signs are given to us. We can follow them to what looks like an outcome or conclusion, only to realise once we’re there that the conclusion was only a piece to an even bigger puzzle.
My guess, Lynn, is that maybe you’ve already picked up the phone. Your job now is to learn to wait for the dial tone. Once you hear it, you’ll know what number to call. I have faith in you.
Take care
Joseph
